CGIL Seminar: "Principles of Selection in Animal Breeding Journal Club -1"

The students of Dr. Angela Cánovas' graduate course: Principles of Selection in Animal Breeding (ANSC*6210), will be presenting short reviews of recent journal articles during the CGIL seminars on March 1st and March 15th. As usual, the CGIL Seminars will be held from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm in ANNU 141. References for the journal articles are provided and members of CGIL and the Department of Animal Biosciences are invited to join the journal club to ask questions and learn about recent advancements in genetic selection research.   

The Guelph Agri-Food Winter Excursion

The Guelph Agri-Food Network is excitied to host a tour of a few amazing agri-food hotspots in the Guelph-Wellington area. To showcase research innovation in industry and academia, our first and second stops will be Semex and the Elora Dairy Research Center. Stop three will be at the Guelph Food Bank to learn about how they source and distribute food. Lastly, we will cap the tour off with some tastey pints and a tour of the Wellington Brewery!

CCSAW Student Chapter Seminar: Dr.Lisa Kramer

The CCSAW Student Chapter is happy to have Dr. Lisa Kramer come in and talk about the limitations of animal models in predicting human responses to drugs and diseases. Lisa Kramer is Professor at the University of Toronto and has previously been a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Psychology at Stanford University and at the Rady School of Management at the University of California San Diego. She completed her PhD in financial economics at the University of British Columbia.
