Past Events

Dr. Agnese Balzani; a CGIL post-doctoral fellow, will present a CGIL Seminar on Friday, November 30th. The seminar will begin at 1:30 pm in room 141 of the Animal Science & Nutrition building.  

The 4th Annual ABSc (10 years of APS before that!) United Way Chili Cook-Off is Thursday Nov 29. We have 6 Chili contestants (including several past winners) - there will be 5 beef chilis to sample as well as 1 vegetarian. The Chili Cook-Off will be held in ANNU110 from noon - 1:30 pm. $6 will enable you to sample and vote for as many of the chilis as you would like,  a variety of breads and butter and a cold drink.

Dr. Kaitlin Wurtz will be presenting her research on aggression in group-housed pigs and potential solutions to this important animal welfare issue.  Dr. Wurtz is a research associate at Michigan State University where she works jointly with the Animal Behavior and Welfare Group and the Animal Breeding and Genetics group. Her ongoing research is assessing the current state of automated behavioral phenotyping using image analysis technology in order to improve the welfare of group-housed pigs. Dr.

Dr. Tatiane Chud; a CGIL post-doctoral fellow, will present a CGIL Seminar on Friday, November 23rd. The seminar will begin at 1:30 pm in room 141 of the Animal Science & Nutrition building.  

The Ph.D. Defence for Michael Ross has been scheduled for Thursday, November 22nd,  2018 @ 9:00 a.m. in Room 141, Animal Science & Nutrition Building. The examining committee will consist of: Examining Chair: Trevor Devries Advisor: Georgia Mason Adv. Committee Member: Alexandra Harlander Additional Member: Stephanie Torrey External Examiner: Marian Dawkins   Thesis Title: “Hens with Benefits: enrichments’ effects on resilience in laying hens”.

  Hinayah Rojas de Oliveira, M.Sc.; a CGIL visiting Ph.D. student, will present a CGIL Seminar on Friday, November 9th. The seminar will begin at 1:30 pm in room 141 of the Animal Science & Nutrition building.  

   

  Frédéric Fortin, M.Sc.; a Geneticist at the Centre d'expertise en production ovine du Québec (CEPOQ), will present a CGIL Seminar on Friday, November 2nd. The seminar will begin at 3:30 pm in room 030 of the Animal Science & Nutrition building.
